Murrindindi Shire has announced the Yea Wetlands have reopened following flood damage in October 2022.

The Yea Wetlands, a significant tourist destination for Yea and an important asset for the Yea and surrounding community was significantly impacted by the October 2022 floods.

Following the latest inspection, Council confirmed the wetlands are safe to reopen.

When visiting, Council requests to be mindful that some pathways that may be a bit slippery due to recent wet weather and a build-up of leaf litter. This may limit accessibility for prams and wheelchairs until all pathways have been resurfaced.

Most of the wetlands have been reopened, but a section of the damaged boardwalk remains closed. Over the coming weeks, works will continue in the wetlands to resurface the pathways and rebuild the damaged boardwalk.

Murrindindi Shire Council acknowledged the financial contribution of the Victorian State Government in completing this work.
