DAREBIN CITY COUNCIL, VIC. — Darebin City Council selected TechnologyOne as its technology solution partner for Digital Darebin, a major transformation program designed to modernise the council’s digital and online systems to improve the way services are delivered to the community.
Following a comprehensive evaluation and procurement process, TechnologyOne’s OneCouncil solution was selected as offering the strongest combination of functionality, implementation capability, local government experience, risk management and value for money.
The Digital Darebin program responds to identified challenges associated with ageing systems, technology maturity, service delivery, staff experience, cyber security and regulatory compliance.
OneCouncil is purpose-built for local government and will provide Darebin with a contemporary, integrated technology foundation, including AI, across key areas of Darebin’s operations. It will strengthen the digital foundation needed to support secure, efficient and compliant operations, while helping Darebin deliver better services for residents.

Darebin CEO Anne Howard said the partnership was an important investment in Darebin’s future capability.
“This is about much more than replacing ageing technology. It’s about giving our people the systems and tools they need to work more effectively and ultimately deliver better services for our community.
“At its heart, Digital Darebin is about making things simpler for staff, safer for our technology and smarter for the Darebin community.
“Over time, the program will help us reduce duplication and manual processes, strengthen financial management and cyber security, and give us better information to make decisions.”
TechnologyOne’s Executive Vice President, Barry Dietrich, said the company was pleased to partner with Darebin on the transformation.
“Darebin serves one of Australia’s most diverse communities, and residents deserve services that are simple, secure and reliable.
“OneCouncil is built here in Australia, by people who understand how councils work. Hundreds of councils already use the platform to support the essential services their communities depend on every day.
“Transformations of this scale are a long-term partnership. We’ll work alongside Darebin at every stage, to build a stronger digital foundation for Council that delivers lasting benefits for the community.”

Implementation will take place over multiple years, with Council and TechnologyOne working together to support staff through the transition and successfully deliver the program.
Ms Howard said a careful, staged approach is critical to the program’s success.
“A transformation of this scale takes time. Our focus will be to support our staff through the change and maintain the services our community relies on every day.”
Darebin City Council has been contacted for comment regarding its controversial use of AI.
