MANNINGHAM CITY COUNCIL, VIC. — You might start noticing something new on bins around Manningham Council areas – and it’s all about making recycling easier when residents are out and about.

Manningham has successfully secured a grant to install these wire baskets, which give people a simple way to place or collect eligible drink 10-cent containers for use in Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS).

The baskets create a clean, source‑separated place for 10‑cent containers, helping reduce litter in public spaces while making it easier to recycle on the go.

How the bin baskets work

When you’re out in the community, you can:
•    Place your empty eligible bottles and cans into the basket, or
•    Collect containers already in the basket and return them through the Container Deposit Scheme.

Either way, it’s a small action that helps support better recycling outcomes in public places.

Where you’ll spot them

You’ll see them at most major parks, reserves and activity centres across Manningham including:
•    Ruffey Lake Park
•    Warrandyte township
•    Doncaster Reserve
•    Donvale Reserve
•    Ted Ajani Reserve
•    Jackson Court
•    Tunstall Square
•    Macedon Square
•    Park Orchards Shopping Village
•    Donburn shops

Keep an eye out for clearly labelled wire baskets attached to public bins as they roll out across these busy outdoor spots.
