WALLAN, VIC. — Victoria’s ‘Big Build’ is delivering the Watson Street Interchange upgrade in Wallan and the Northern Highway intersection Upgrade.
The construction will transform Watson Street into a full diamond interchange, adding a new outbound exit ramp and inbound entry ramp to the Hume Freeway, helping to improve access for locals, freight and visitors.
The Northern Highway Intersection Upgrade will see additional lanes built on the Northern Highway in both directions at the intersection of High Street and Watson Street, and a second right-turn lane from Watson Street into the Wallan township, making it easier for drivers to move through the area.
There will be some changes to the area that impact vehicle and pedestrian traffic as the works progress, including:
- Ongoing construction activity in and around areas
- Traffic changes, including lane closures and reduced speed limits
- Temporary traffic management in place at times
- Periodic footpath closures and pedestrian detours
- Vegetation and environmental works within project areas
- Noise, dust and construction impacts during works
- Delays at times, please allow extra travel time
