Murrindindi Shire continues support for solar power

By now you will have heard all about Murrindindi Shire Council’s Dindi Bulk Buy Program.

The Dindi Bulk Buy brings Murrindindi Shire home, business and farm owners free impartial energy advice on solar options with access to discounted solar products installed by trusted providers.

Murrindindi Shire Council’s Natural Environment and Climate Change Councillor Rebecca Bowles said it was important that the community had confidence that the suppliers and installers they are dealing with were working through the Dindi Bulk Buy Program.

“We understand some residents have been ‘cold-called’ or door-knocked by solar product suppliers recently. We have heard that this has happened in other places where ‘bulk buy’ programs have been put in place,” Cr Bowles said.

“While this isn’t necessarily a problem, people need to be aware that these suppliers are not part of the Dindi Bulk Buy Program. The Dindi Bulk Buy Program is an opt-in service. Council’s Program partners, Yarra Energy Foundation (YEF) and Jim’s Energy, will only contact you with information about solar products and services if you have registered your interest on the Dindi Bulk Buy website, over the phone with YEF or at one of Council’s information sessions.

“If you have any concerns about suppliers or installers who might have approached you, I urge you to get in contact with YEF on 1300 866 634.

“One of the big advantages of using the Dindi Bulk Buy Program is YEF’s due diligence process has ensured that the systems being offered under the Program meet the highest possible standards. Likewise, products and installation purchased under the Program come with second-to-none warranties that are serviced by a single point of contact.

“YEF also provides free and impartial advice on any solar-power questions Murrindindi Shire residents might have. Whether you want to improve your existing solar system, get third-party advice on a quote from any seller in the market, or wish to find out more about buying or installing solar through the Program, YEF’s hotline is a great way to find out which solar products will work for you,” Cr Bowles said.

“Jim’s Energy are handling the installations part of the Dindi Bulk Buy Project and while they are using a number of local contractors alongside their own team, only installations carried out by Jim’s Energy are considered to be under the Dindi Bulk Buy Program.

“Jim’s Energy has offered to donate and install a solar system on a community-owned building in the Shire if we are able to meet our target of installing 50kW under this Program, which is another great incentive to use the Dindi Bulk Buy Program.

“If you’re interested in finding out more about the Dindi Bulk Buy or its Partners, check out www.dindibulkbuy.com.au or pop along to an information session,” Cr Bowles added.

Upcoming Dindi Bulk Buy information sessions:
Marysville Community Centre – 10am Saturday, August 4.
Yea Shire Hall – 7pm Wednesday, August 15.
