SYDNEY, NSW. — Alan Jones’ legal team lost their bid to prevent the media from reporting on the evidence provided to Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court by one of his alleged sexual abuse victims in his upcoming indecent assault trial.
The veteran 2GB broadcaster, former Wallabies coach and alleged sexual predator, Alan Jones, is due to face Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court next Monday, August 3, for day one of his trial, which Jones has stated he will fight the 22 pending charges.
Jones has pleaded not guilty to 20 counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual touching related to six victims.
The allegations relate to several alleged accounts of Jones’ ‘touching on the buttocks, penis or kissing’ of the victims.
Judge Glenn Walsh ruled in favour of the media that applied to sit in on the evidence of ‘Complainant J’ who will be the first witness called.
Jones’ barrister, Claire O’Neill, argued the media could hear evidence but not publish it.
Judge Walsh was not satisfied that the law allowed him to make such an order.
The media are expected to apply to sit in on the evidence of the other five victims.
“I have never indecently assaulted these people.
“I’ll be defending every charge,” Jones said.
