205 km/h and snow complications

Mansfield Highway Patrol officers yesterday intercepted two speeding cars within 45 minutes.

A Honda Accord travelling to the snow fields was allegedly caught travelling 160km/h in a 100km/h zone on Mount Buller Road a 10.06am.

The driver, a 22-year-old Wollert man with one passenger on-board, had his car impounded at a cost of $1625.

Forty-five minutes later officers detected a Renault Megane on Mount Buller Road allegedly driving at 205km/h in a 100km/h zone with five people on-board.

The snow-bound car, driven by a 24-year-old Doncaster man, was impounded for the sum of $1625.

Both drivers have been summonsed to appear before Mansfield Magistrates’ Court.

A further three drivers will also front court after having their cars impounded in the Mansfield area over the past week.

Mansfield highway patrol officers were disappointed drivers were disregarding the road rules.

Victoria Police remind drivers to slow down so they can arrive safely at their destination.
