CRANBOURNE EAST, VIC. — Casey Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives yesterday charged six people after two allegedly stolen cars were located in Cranbourne East.
Youths, and the alleged stolen cars, a Mercedes hatchback and a Mazda 3 wagon, were spotted by patrolling police on Cortula Road about 2.10pm on Saturday, May 23.
A 19-year-old Cranbourne East man was arrested nearby.
The remaining five allegedly fled in the Mazda, which came to a final stop on Ferntree Gully Road, after a deflation device, commonly known as ‘stop sticks’, was successfully deployed.
Four teens were swiftly arrested.
Police alleged both vehicles were stolen during an aggravated burglary at a Stark Circuit address in Cranbourne East about 1.15am.
The 19-year-old Cranbourne East man was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, committing an indictable offence whilst on bail, contravening a condition of bail and stating a false name to police.
He appeared before the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
A 19-year-old Collingwood woman was also charged with theft of a motor vehicle and committing an indictable offence while on bail, and she was bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on September 8.
An 18-year-old Collingwood woman was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, committing an indictable offence while on bail and failing to answer bail.
She was also bailed to appear before the Dandenong Magistrates Court on September 8.
An 18-year-old Cranbourne East man was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
He, too, was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on September 8.
An 18-year-old Glen Waverley man was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.
He appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
A 16-year-old from the Casey area was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and appeared before the Dandenong Children’s Court yesterday.
