Detectives have charged a 31-year-old Bendigo man following an alleged car theft in Echuca last week.
Police allege the Bendigo man stole the Mazda 2 sedan from a property on Hare Street at about 5.15am on Wednesday, January 22.
Police spotted the man in the allegedly stolen car in Bendigo on Friday, January 24. He was soon arrested.
He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, attempted theft from a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving and bailed to appear at the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on March 31..
Police understand that unknown offenders gained access to the 92-year-old victim’s shed at his property on Hare Street and stole his motorised scooter between 4pm on January 20 and 8.15am on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
The Mazda has been recovered but the scooter, which is valued at approximately $5000, remains outstanding.
