Community will work together to rebuild Eltham North Adventure Playground

Over a hundred local people will volunteer their time and skills this Saturday to  help rebuild the much-loved Eltham North Adventure Playground.

Participants will be planting trees, moving mulch, landscaping and helping create a dry-creek bed. There will also be decorating activities, such as painting cubby houses.

Edendale Ward Councillor John Dumaresq anticipated a high level of community participation in this event.

“The community were devastated when the original playground was destroyed last year and local residents have been eagerly watching the new playground take shape. Being able to help out on site will be a great experience. Families will be able to plant trees or help out with other landscaping activities.” Cr Dumaresq said.

“Community contributions will enhance the playspace around the main structure and will be enjoyed by visitors in the future. This project is a great example of Council and the community working together.”

The playground will be open by Christmas, in time for the long school holidays. Further enhancements to the playspace will be made in 2019, such as additional landscaping projects.

There will be opportunities for the community to get involved again in 2019.
