Former Victoria Police officer, Alan John Hawley, 51, who is awaiting sentencing for downloading disgusting child abuse material, has been caught using a mobile phone whilst in custody at the Metropolitan Assessment Prison (MAP) in West Melbourne.
Hawley fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court yesterday via video link from Hopkins Correctional Centre after allegedly accessing child abuse material via a mobile phone on Monday, February 17.
Hawley was stationed at Sunshine and served for 11 years before 19,856 illegal child abuse images were uncovered by the Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET).
He pleaded guilty to seven child abuse charges in the County Court on Monday, February 3 and was taken into custody.
He has also been charged with committing an offence at the Greensborough Police Station under Section 474.22 of the Criminal Code.
Hopkins Correctional Centre is where dodgy police and pedophiles, such as Gerald Ridsdale, are sent to protect them from the general ‘mainstream’ prison population. It is known within prison circles as the “pedophile prison.”
Hawley will face the court again on May 23.
