Dad mourns son’s loss

Major Collision Investigators continue working out the circumstances that lead to the death of 20-year-old Alexandra Football/Netball Club player Jordan Purcell.

Jordan’s father Micheal Purcell told Herald Sun journalist Aaron Langmaid that a recent speech by Neale Daniher to the Melbourne Football Club had prompted a chat with his son following Alexandra’s (reserves) 12 point loss to Yarra Junction.

“Our final conversation is something I’ll never forget,” Mr Purcell told the Herald Sun.

“I had the best 10 minutes with him afterwards.

“I took the opportunity to have a conversation. We talked about a few things. I hugged him and told him I loved him.

“I just didn’t know he’d be dead three hours later,” Mr Purcell told the Herald Sun.

Police have not ruled out whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.

Mr Purcell is not angry at the driver of the Toyota Hilux that allegedly hit and killed his son. “Obviously the investiagtion is ongoing … but we don’t want anger coming into this … nothing productive comes of that [anger],” Purcell told News Ltd’s Aaron Langmaid.
