EXCLUSIVE: Bushfire class action update

Law firm Maurice Blackburn continue representing Black Saturday class action participants in a fight with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

A bushfire class action case management hearing against the ATO recently occurred in the Federal Court on Friday, June 8.

The Federal Court has made orders relating to the timetable of proceedings, including the trial of substantive issues, now scheduled for November 13.

The outcome of the proceeding may result in a further distribution of compensation to class action participants if the Court finds in favour of the Scheme Administrator.

Maurice Blackburn stated “there won’t be any meaningful developments in this matter until the Judge decides the outcome.”

On that basis, Maurice Blackburn don’t propose to provide any further updates until the trial concludes unless circumstances change.
