Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to reports of a house fire in Sayers Road, Hoppers Crossing at 12.55 this morning following several triple zero calls.
Crews arrived on the scene within four minutes to find smoke and flames issuing from the roof space of a single-storey building. The response was escalated and additional firefighters were requested.
A large security gate hampered access to the property which appeared to be under construction.
FRV crews donned breathing apparatus and began an external attack on the fire, protecting the adjoining properties.
The fire was deemed Under Control at 1.54am.
The cause of the fire is not yet known but it will be investigated by FRV specialists.
Firefighters remained on the scene overnight to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
