From Tallarook to Mansfield … in a wheelchair

Richmond FC wheelchair footy player Adam Georgelin has launched the PUSH ON Wheelchair Challenge and will travel in his wheelchair from Tallarook to Mansfield along the Great Victorian Rail Trail.

His journey between Sunday 1 December and Tuesday 3 December is to raise funds for the Robert Rose Foundation and Disability Support and Recreation (DRS) that supports those with spinal -and other – injuries.

Adam will travel almost 125 kilometres over three days in a wheelchair. No matter what obstacles Adam faces, he’s determined to “Push On.”

Adam has setup a Go Fund Me page and you too can donate.

“One thing I have learned from being born with a disability is that life is all about having a go at things you never thought you could or would ever be able to do.

“To show my appreciation to the organisations that have turned my life around for the better , l am now in training to push in my wheelchair along the [Goulburn Valley] GV rail trail helping to raise awareness and much needed funds to support those with spinal injuries as well as deformities such as spina bifida, which I was born with,” Adam said.

What Robert Rose Foundation as the major sponsor of Victorian wheelchair Football League, along with AFL Victoria and Disability Sport & Recreation (DSR) has done to improve my life and introduce me to sport has been invaluable. It has improved my confidence my fitness and provided me an avenue to socialise with other disabled athletes.

The AFL wheelchair football competition involves teams linked to Collingwood, Hawthorn, Essendon, St Kilda and Richmond.

Games are held at the Boroondara Sporting Complex on Sundays during AFL season.

In addition Richmond as an organisation has been supportive to me and in my opinion to our entire wheelchair football team as a group.  The PUSH ON fundraiser will be between 1st and 3rd December 2019. Adam is looking to get as many donations and sponsorship as possible to support the cause.

Adam was born with Spina Bifida but thanks to DSR, Richmond Football Club and the AFL Wheelchair League they “have changed my life” and this is “my small way to give back” so that DSR can continue to support all Victorians living with a disability.

Adam will be on Hit 96.9FM (Goulburn Murray) on Wednesday morning from around 7.15am.

Adam is also seeking commercial sponsors willing to support his endeavour.

Kinglake Ranges News will donate all ad revenue during Adam’s trip (1-3 December) and revenue from related articles (including this one) to PUSH ON and every business supporting Adam’s epic journey will receive a free linked ad on the Kinglake Ranges News home page and one ‘in article’ ad free of charge.
