Homicide Squad detectives investigate weekend Shepparton death

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating following the death of 43 year old a man in Shepparton on Friday night.

Emergency services attended a Poplar Avenue address following reports of a man being struck by a vehicle near Yorkshire Crescent shortly before 11pm.

It’s believed the unnamed Shepparton man drove to the location for a pre-arranged meeting before becoming involved in an altercation with two males and a female, all believed to be in their late teens, and was subsequently assaulted.

As a result he was on the roadway and was then struck by a vehicle.

The woman driving that vehicle stopped to assist and paramedics worked on him, however the man died at the scene.

The trio involved in the altercation left the area before police arrived.

Detectives from both the Homicide Squad and Major Collision Unit attended the scene yesterday, with Homicide Squad detectives now formally taking over the investigation.

They are keen to speak to anyone with information about those involved in the incident, or who witnessed the assault or following collision.
