Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are investigating following an incident in Ballintine Street, Benalla about 6am where a 28-year-old Benalla man was shot.
Emergency services were called to a Ballintine Street address following reports a man had been located with a gunshot wound to the lower body about 6am this morning.
The 28-year-old Benalla man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined.
The investigation remains ongoing.
