Cyclist in hospital with life-threatening injuries

A 38-year-old male cyclist from Heathcote has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a collision on the McIvor Highway between Bowles Road and Longlea Lane, Longlea at about 10.20pm.

A 38-year-old male cyclist from Heathcote has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a collision on the McIvor Highway between Bowles Road and Longlea Lane, Longlea at about 10.20pm.

Detectives believe the rider, who was on an e-bike, was riding within a westbound lane of the highway without any lights or reflectors and was wearing dark clothing when he was struck by a car travelling west.

The 38-year-old male rider from Heathcote was taken to hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries.

The 64-year-old male driver of the car and his female passenger stopped at the scene to assist.

The Golden Square man is speaking with investigators.

The McIvor Highway was closed for several hours overnight while MCIU detectives processed the scene.
