DONALD, VIC. — Detectives from the Missing Persons Squad yesterday charged a 16-year-old boy after human remains were located in Donald on Thursday as part of a search for missing teenage girl Layla Jeffery.
The 16-year-old boy (who we can not name for legal reasons) was last night remanded in custody by the Children’s Court to appear at a later date.
The boy from the Swan Hill area was arrested by detectives on Friday following the execution of a warrant at a residential address.
The charge follows an investigation into the disappearance of a missing 13-year-old girl who was last seen on 4 July and was reported missing to police by a family member on Sunday, July 5.
