Police, including officers from Operation Trinity, charged a 15-year-old boy allegedly in possession of a stolen vehicle in Preston at about 12:45am.
Officers caught sight of an allegedly stolen black Mazda CX3 near the intersection of Murray and St Georges Road.
It’s alleged that the vehicle turned right into High Street before hitting a gutter, rendering the car immobile.
Three males allegedly took off on foot, dumping the Mazda.
The alleged driver of the vehicle, a 15-year-old boy, was arrested a short distance away.
Despite a thorough search of the area, police failed to locate the remaining two males.
Investigators will allege the Mazda was stolen from a Moonee Ponds address in late January.
The boy was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and bailed to appear before a children’s court.
