Over two nights, 20 alleged offenders were charged with offences including possessing drugs, unlicensed driving, possessing weapons and theft as part of Operation Buchan.
On Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23, police impounded five vehicles as a result of licence and drug-driving offences as part of a Cooper Street, Epping operation.
Community concern about a recent rise in anti-social behaviour, drug use, impaired driving and theft offences around Cooper Street led to the operation.
Cooper Street in Epping is a key arterial route that experiences significant vehicle and pedestrian traffic across day and night. It is a well-known ‘hoon hotspot’ and has been so at least since the late 1980s.
Several drivers were also found in possession of cannabis which led police to execute a search warrant at a Cooper Street, Epping address on Saturday, November 23.
Officers allegedly located a trafficable amount of cannabis and other prescription medication.
A 53-year-old Epping woman was charged with trafficking cannabis and bailed to appear before Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on March 3, 2025.
