FRANKSTON, VIC. — A man faces serious drug trafficking charges after allegedly being found in possession of a traffickable quantity of drugs during an operation at Frankston Railway Station.
The 50-year-old man from Mount Martha was one of 40 people arrested during the operation in the Frankston CBD on Thursday, August 13.
Police will allege he had methylamphetamine, MDMA, ecstasy, 1,4-Butanediol, cannabis, prescription medication and more than $5000 in cash.
He was charged with trafficking a drug of dependence, and seven counts of possessing a drug of dependence, as well as negligently dealing with proceeds of crime, and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.
He was remanded to appear in Frankston Magistrates’ Court next Monday, August 24.
A 41-year-old woman from Frankston was also arrested after allegedly being found in possession of methylamphetamine, 1,4-Butanediol and a large knife. She was charged with two counts of trafficking a drug of dependence, two counts of possessing a drug of dependence, and possessing a controlled weapon.
She was bailed to appear in Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 30.
The operation targeted antisocial behaviour and drugs and weapons offences at and near Frankston’s public transport hubs and retail precinct.
In just five hours, officers from Transit South, with assistance from Protective Services Officers (PSOs), the Frankston High Visibility Community Engagement Team (HiCET) and the Dog Squad:
- Made 40 arrests;
- Seized five edged weapons;
- Issued 16 cannabis cautions;
- Located three people on outstanding warrants;
- Located two people on whereabouts; and
- Issued seven Penalty Infringement Notices (PINs) for weapons and transport offences.
Authorised officers also checked more than 1600 public transport tickets and Myki cards, and issued more than 40 PINs for various transport offences.
Similar operations will continue in the future.
