MAIDSTONE, VIC. — Police are investigating after another Genesis-branded gym was set alight in Maidstone overnight.

Emergency services were called to a large fire at a gym on a Hampstead Road business park about 12.30am.

There were no injuries reported.

The offenders fled the scene.

The building sustained significant damage, and investigators are treating the incident as a targeted attack.

Nicole Foreman manages a childcare centre located next door and said the centre had to close the centre today, affecting more than 100 families.

“They rely on us for the kids while they go to work, so it’s going to be hard for them to find somewhere for the kids to stay today,” she said.

It follows the firebombing of another Genesis Health Club gym in Taylors Lakes on Tuesday night.

During that incident, two people working in the gym were told by masked offenders to leave the building before it was set alight.
