Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) firefighters responded to a structure fire at Preston Street, Coburg, after several calls to triple-zero (000) reported a house fire yesterday.

Firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes to find thick black smoke issuing from the roof of the two-storey weatherboard house. The response was escalated.

Crews donned breathing apparatus and began accessing the fire on the second floor and preventing fire spread to adjoining properties.
