The house had smoke alarms installed, but it’s believed they were not in working order.

Ambulance Victoria treated one person on the scene for minor smoke inhalation.

Firefighters donned breathing apparatus (BA) and began an internal attack on the fire, which had taken hold in over half of the house.

The fire was deemed under control at 7.17am, 17 minutes after firefighters arrived.

The house was severely damaged in the blaze.

The fire started from a candle inside the home.
