The charges follow their arrest in Fraser Street on 13 July after tasking team members spotted a black Toyota Hilux with suspected false plates about 1.20pm.

Police intercepted the vehicle and arrested the men after it was confirmed the registration plates were false and the vehicle was allegedly stolen from Geelong in June.

The Footscray man is also alleged to have pushed one member over and used his head to strike another member in the face while resisting arrest.

A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered quantities of cannabis, methylamphetamine and a sawn-off bolt action rifle.

The Melton South man has been bailed to appear before Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on November 10.

The Footscray man has been remanded in custody to appear before Sunshine Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday, July 14.
