Icarus Taskforce detectives charged a man overnight Friday after border-controlled drugs were detected concealed inside a convection oven sent through the domestic freight system.

Collaboration between the Icarus Taskforce and the Australian Border Force (ABF), including a thorough forensic search, revealed a concealed item hidden within the oven.

The oven was deconstructed and found to contain two blocks of compressed powder.

A 31-year-old Rowville man was arrested yesterday afternoon at his home address.

Whislt in custody – and following police interviews – he was charged with trafficking large commercial quantities of methylamphetamine and cocaine, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The Rowville man was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
