At 6.47am yesterday, firefighters responded to an incident on Avondale Street, Springvale, after several callers to triple-zero (000) reported a house heavily involved in fire.

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) escalated the response, with firefighters arriving on the scene within five minutes.

The single-storey weatherboard home was fully engulfed, with firefighters initially unable to enter the home.

One person, who is yet to be formally identified, was found deceased inside the property.

Crews worked swiftly to extinguish the blaze and cool down hot spots.

The incident was deemed under control at 7.46am.

Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the fire.
