FOOTSCRAY, VIC. — At 10.25pm last night, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) firefighters were called to an incident on Nicholson Street, Footscray, after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported smoke was issuing from a shop.
Firefighters arrived within five minutes to find multiple stores alight in a double-storey retail shopping strip.
FRV crews donned breathing apparatus to attack the fire.

Firefighters searched and were able to safely evacuate an occupant from the second floor.
The fire caused major damage in one shop and spread through the eaves to impact three other stores.
The scene was deemed under control at 11.47pm.
The fire will be investigated by fire investigators.
