Springvale police intercepted a high-range drink driver in Springvale in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers were patrolling a known high-risk driving location when they sighted a Holden on the Princes Highway about 1am.

Police attempted to intercept the Holden before the driver allegedly got out and fled to a nearby property.

Officers located the driver, and he was given a preliminary breath test, which returned a positive result.

The driver undertook an evidentiary breath test where he returned an alleged reading of 0.260, more than five times the legal limit.

The 35-year-old Mulgrave man was issued an immediate driving ban and will be charged on summons with relevant drink driving offences.

His vehicle was also impounded for 30 days for $1159 and will appear before Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
