PASCOE VALE SOUTH, VIC. — Police have arrested a 29-year-old man armed with a gun who fled the scene of a crash involving a stolen car in Pascoe Vale South this morning.
Emergency services received reports that a Volvo SUV had crashed into a fence on Coonans Road shortly after 9am.
Witnesses then reported seeing the driver flee the vehicle, allegedly armed with a firearm.
Officers rapidly descended on the scene, locating and arresting the man on Parkstone Avenue within 10 minutes.
A firearm was also located nearby after a search of the area was conducted.
Police will allege the Volvo was stolen from a North Melbourne address on Thursday, July 16, and that it displayed stolen registration plates.
The Pascoe Vale South man will be interviewed.
