WOLLERT, VIC. — Homicide Squad detectives continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man after emergency services were called to a Gypsum Drive, Wollert property just before 5.30pm yesterday.
The yet-to-be formally identified 42-year-old Wollert man sustained injuries consistent with a shooting.
A man who lives next door told an ABC News Melbourne journalist that he: “heard three gunshots yesterday afternoon.”
A crime scene remains in place, and the investigation is ongoing.
Detectives believe the alleged shooting may be connected to the underworld, with Melbourne underworld figure Athan Boursinos ambushed and murdered in a laneway behind his Champions Parade home in Wollert in mid-2025, which police suspect was the work of a NSW organised crime syndicate.

No arrests have been made.
At this early stage of the investigation, police are treating the incident as targeted.
