Man arrested following Bayswater hit-run

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a 28-year-old Bayswater man following an alleged serious hit-run collision in Bayswater about 3.10am.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a 28-year-old Bayswater man following an alleged serious hit-run collision in Bayswater about 3.10am.

Detectives allege a 23-year-old man was sitting in the middle of Boronia Road, near Lewis Road, when he was struck by a car.

The Narre Warren man was taken to hospital where he remains with critical injuries.

It’s alleged the driver involved didn’t stop at the scene and fled in the damaged vehicle.

Police received reports of a damaged vehicle with a man sleeping inside parked on Jacobus Walk in Ferntree Gully shortly after 8am.

The Bayswater man was arrested and is assisting investigators with their enquiries.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who saw a blue XR6 sedan travelling in the area prior to the collision.
