Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to a house fire in Park Orchards around midday on Sunday, April 13, after multiple triple zero (000) callers reported seeing flames.

Firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes to find smoke and flames issuing from a single-storey brick home.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters entered the burning home to search for any occupants; due to no residents being accounted for, however, the house was empty at the time.

Safety procedures have been enacted due to Asbestos being present in the building.

The fire was declared under control at 12:54pm, 49 minutes after firefighters arrived.

The rear half of the house was severely damaged in the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined but will be investigated.
