CARRUM DOWNS, VIC. — A P-plater is expected to lose his licence and will face a magistrate after allegedly travelling more than 200km/h and evading Somerville Highway Patrol officers, who were on patrol when they allegedly detected the BMW 230i travelling at 224km/h in the 100km/h zone on EastLink just after 8pm yesterday.
Officers activated their lights and sirens in an attempt to intercept the vehicle, before it allegedly took off and continued to travel at a fast rate of speed.
Police yesterday morning arrested an 18-year-old Clyde North man after presenting to a police station.
He was interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons with conduct endangering life and several traffic offences.
A notice to surrender the vehicle is also expected to be served on the registered owner, believed to be known to the driver.
