TARNEIT, VIC. — Westgate Divisional Response Unit / Alliance have charged six people after they were arrested in a stolen vehicle in Tarneit today.
Police will allege the group has been involved in a series of home invasions, aggravated burglaries and car thefts across the north west metro police region this week.
Officers sighted an allegedly stolen Mazda CX5 on Hummingbird Boulevard, Tarneit, with five people on board, about 6.10pm yesterday.
Police tracked the Mazda for a short time before they lost sight of the vehicle.
Officers, who continued to patrol the area, sighted the Mazda on Delias Road, Tarneit about 12.10pm.
Westgate Divisional Response Unit members, with the assistance of the Police Airwing, continued monitoring the group.
At 2.20pm the Mazda came to a stop on Homestead Drive, Tarneit, and a passenger exited the vehicle before the car continued.
An 18-year-old man from Tarneit was swiftly arrested.
Shortly afterwards, the four other occupants of the Mazda dumped the car on Homestead Drive, Tarneit and transferred into another allegedly stolen vehicle, a Hyundai i30.
Police continued to follow the Hyundai, along with the assistance of Air Wing, through Newport, Altona North and Truganina.
At 4pm the offending vehicle stopped at a service station on Leakes Road, Truganina, where multiple police units descended.
The offending vehicle rammed all four police units in an attempt to flee the area.
All four vehicles were damaged, but luckily, no one was injured.
Police arrested the four occupants of the car at the scene; they have all since been charged.
