SOUTH MELBOURNE, VIC. — Police have charged a 37-year-old man following an alleged stabbing of a 51-year-old female victim on a moving tram on Eastern Road, South Melbourne, yesterday afternoon.

The 51-year-old woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested a 37-year-old man of no fixed address nearby.

He has been charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury, intentionally causing injury, stalking, assault with a weapon, committing an indictable offence whilst on bail, contravening a conduct condition of bail and possessing a controlled weapon.

The man was remanded overnight and will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
