Two men charged after cache of weapons and drugs seized

DONCASTER, VIC. — Police have charged two men and seized machetes, firearms, cash and a commercial quantity of drugs in Doncaster on Wednesday, June 3.

Officers from the Yarra Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a search warrant at the Frederick Street property about 5.30am.

Inside the property, officers allegedly located and seized:

  • Several cannabis plants;
  • Traffickable quantities of GHB, methylamphetamine, MDMA and ecstasy
  • Three imitation firearms;
  • Seven machetes;
  • $5,320 cash and
  • Various credit cards and ID cards (which are believed to be in relation to fraudulent offending);

Two men and a woman inside the property were arrested.

A 30-year-old Doncaster man was charged with more than two dozen offences, including:

  • cultivating a narcotic plant;
  • trafficking cannabis;
  • six counts of possessing a drug of dependence;
  • eight counts of possessing a prohibited weapon;
  • five counts of possessing prescription medication;
  • three counts of possessing an imitation firearm;
  • two counts of fraudulently altering a registration plate;
  • fraudulently altering a license and
  • handling stolen goods.

A 23-year-old Doncaster man was charged with several offences, including:

  • cultivating a narcotic plant;
  • trafficking cannabis;
  • six counts of possessing a drug of dependence;
  • three counts of possessing a prohibited weapon;
  • two counts of possessing an imitation firearm and
  • handling stolen goods

The pair was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

A 27-year-old Box Hill woman was released and is expected to be charged on summons.
