MELBOURNE, VIC. — Renowned Nazi and far-right activist Monica Smit has invited her followers, for just $10, to attend a gathering at Metropolis Events on Sunday, September 20 from 2pm.
Metropolis Events denied any knowledge of any such a ‘gathering’ and told VicNews (via phone) that they had no knowledge that Monica Smit is directly involved with Nazis,” a Metropolis Events spokesperson said. Metropolis Events did not state that, now they had been informed of such, whether they would cancel the event nor confirm or deny that Metropolis Events supports hosting a party for known Nazis.
Monica Smit had been seeking a venue to host her Nazi gathering, but most venues refused as they did not want to be associated with Nazis, Smit, her followers or Nazi cult leader Thomas Sewell.
On November 20, 2025, Sarah Basford Canales reported for The Guardian that: “[Monica] Smit defended [Tommy] Robinson’s inclusion, saying he would “share his energy and patriotism via a pre-recorded video speech.”
“We have connected with Tommy Robinson, as he has a large global profile as someone who is patriotic and speaks up for his own country, voicing the concerns of many of his fellow countrymen and women,” she said.
The event is apparently a celebration of Smit and Avi Yemini (the “proud Jewish Nazi” and former IDF soldier) to register Victorian state political parties, using their Group Voting Ticket (GVT) to send preferences to their Nazi, white-supremacist politician Pauline Hanson’s One Nation and her Victorian state election candidates.
While it may be framed as a “celebration of abolishing the GVT” it is also an excuse for a Nazi gathering which Metropolis Events is proudly hosting.
“I can’t read your emails, only the general manager can access them … and he’s away today,” a Metropolis Events spokesperson told VicNews.
Metropolis Events did not respond to several email requests for comment.
