MELBOURNE, VIC. — Renowned Nazi and far-right activist Monica Smit has invited her followers, for just $10, to attend a gathering at il Mercato Centrale on Sunday, September 20, from 4pm. il Mercato is closed and does not trade on Sundays.
Moncia Smit’s Reignite Democracy Australia did not have a booking in the first place.
“Thanks for reaching out, and for your continued patronage of il Mercato Centrale.
“I was made aware a few hours ago that promotional material naming our venue has been circulated; however, we’re closed on Sundays, and there are no events booked for Sunday, September 20, 2026.
“Thanks again for bringing this to our attention and hope to see you soon,” spokesperson for il Mercato Centrale, Dawid, told Tom, who had messaged the venue.
VicNews did reach out to il Mercato Centrale via email at 10.26am yesterday, which was followed up with phone calls to check il Mercato Centrale had received the email, but they did not respond.
