Exclusive Update, Sat. November 18, 3:30pm: It’s alleged one of the drivers was travelling over the 80 km/h speed limit on the wrong side of the road.
The driver was allegedly also alcohol and drug-affected, and should only have been driving a vehicle fitted with an alcohol interlock device.
A serious car accident near the intersection of Extons Rd and Whittlesea-Kinglake Rd has seen Whittlesea-Kinglake Rd closed. Several police and paramedics are currently in attendance.
11:44pm Herald Sun reporter, Genevieve Alison, reports:
A fiery crash in the state’s north east has left four people injured.
Emergency services responded to reports of a collision at Whittlesea-Kinglake Road in Kinglake just after 9pm this evening.
It is understood one vehicle caught fire following the high impact crash.
The driver and three passengers in one car were all injured — two of who were flown to hospital.
No one in the second vehicle was injured.
Leading Senior Constable Natalie Dean said the exact circumstances surrounding the crash were not yet clear and police were investigating.
