Snow go for Yarra Valley speedster

A Don Valley resident was allegedly caught driving more than 70km/h over the speed limit and affected by ‘ice’ will need to rethink his plans after telling police he was in a rush to organise a snow trip.

Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol officers detected a vehicle travelling at 132km/h in a 60km/h zone on Don Road, Don Valley about 9.15pm last night, Thursday, July 10.

The car was intercepted, with the 42-year-old driver telling police he was on his way to meet a friend so they could plan a trip to the snow.

The driver, who was also unlicensed, allegedly tested positive to methamphetamine and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

The Don Valley man is expected to be charged on summons with drug driving, speeding and unlicensed driving.
