The body of a teenage girl has been found at an abandoned Alcoa aluminium smelter in Point Henry, near Geelong.

Police confirmed officers found the body at the former smelter site in Point this morning.

It’s understood the girl may have been as young as 16 years old.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

The Alcoa smelter closed in 2014 and has remained vacant with the company stating it is ‘working alongside the community to reimagine the site’.
