Two men in custody following Alexandra hit & run this morning

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are currently interviewing two men following an alleged hit-run accident in Alexandra overnight (16 June).

Emergency services were called to Hall Street about 12.15am after a man, believed to be aged in his 20s, was located on the road with life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics treated the man, however he died en route to hospital.

A 20-year-old Alexandra man presented himself to police a short time later.

Investigators also arrested a 23-year-old Alexandra man at an Alexandra address.

Both are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

A Toyota Hilux, believed to have been involved in the incident, has also been recovered.

The incident takes the state’s road toll to 149, 52 more than this time last year.
