Following the inauguration of convicted felon Donald Trump as US President, at a Washington DC arena speech, Elon Musk conducted two Nazi salutes.
The Naza salute, also known as the ‘Hitler Salute’ or ‘Seig Heil’ is a greeting that was used in Nazi Germany. To ‘Seig Heil’ means to “hail victory.”
Elon Musk was clearly “hailing victory” the same way Adolf Hitler did when Hitler’s Nazi Party officially adopted the salute in 1926.
During his speech at a Washington DC arena to celebrate new US President Donald Trump’s inauguration Musk pounded his chest before making two Nazi salutes.
Australian media outlets are describing Musk’s Nazi salutes as ‘awkward gestures’ with the Herald Sun describing it as “an ‘odd-looking’ salute” whilst The Guardian describes them as “fascist salutes.” The Age or ABC News have not reported the matter.
Elon Musk conducted two Nazi salutes. Musk “hailed victory.” Musk conducted two Nazi salutes, not hand gestures.
Musk’s ‘hand gestures’ were not a ‘Nazi-style salute’ they were the actual Nazi salute.
In a video posted by Musk on his X (formerly Twitter) account, the Nazi salutes have been edited out of the footage, according to several sources.
Use of the Nazi salute is illegal in Germany, Austria and Slovakia as is the use of ‘any words or phrases’ associated with it.
In Australia, it is illegal to perform the salute. If Musk had performed the Nazi salute in Australia he could face criminal penalties.
Australian law states that the Nazi salute can only be used for “a religious, academic, educational, artistic, literary or scientific purpose.”
Elon Musk did not respond to a request for comment.
