ESSENDON, VIC. — The Essendon Theatre Company celebrated ETC’s 50th anniversary with people who made the milestone possible by sharing time, talent and passion.

The Essendon Theatre Company (ETC) started life as ‘The Jacobians’ and was formed in 1976 by local actors including Life Member Dawn Hinrichsen’s parents, Eileen and David.

The company’s early rehearsals were held in the Hinrichsens’ lounge-room in Fairfield, with performances presented at the Civic Theatre in Moonee Ponds.

Operating out of Bradshaw Street Community Hall in Essendon, the ETC has produced over 150 productions over the last 50 years.

The ETC has a proud history of producing quality community theatre.  Producing four productions per year, from dramas to comedies and the odd pantomime, we have something for every audience!

Whether it’s a fast-paced farce or a pull-your-heartstrings drama, their shows are presented in dinner theatre style, which means you can bring your own snacks for the perfect theatre-going experience.

The ETC is a proud member of The Victorian Drama League (VDL), submitting one production annually as part of the VDL Awards. We have even been honoured with a couple of nominations and awards over the years

The Essendon Theatre Company has been powered by a dedicated team of volunteers, actors, creatives and behind-the-scenes superstars who share a deep love for live and local theatre for fifty years.
