KINGLAKE, VIC. — Murrindindi Shire Council will begin redevelopment works on the Kinglake Memorial Reserve oval from Tuesday, June 9, with important upgrades set to support local sport and the wider Kinglake community.
The project is jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Murrindindi Shire Council following a competitive funding process, with Council also overseeing delivery.
Upgrades will include playing-surface improvements, drainage works, and a new irrigation system to enhance safety, playability, and the long-term sustainability of the oval for local clubs and the broader community.
During construction, the second half of the 2026 football and netball season and the 2026-27 cricket season will be played at alternate venues. Council encourages the community to continue supporting the Kinglake Football Netball Club, Kinglake Junior Football Club and Kinglake District Cricket Club throughout the season.
Murrindindi Shire Council Sustainability and Assets portfolio Councillor Paul Hildebrand said the upgrade reflects Council’s ongoing work to renew and improve existing community infrastructure in partnership with other levels of government.
“The Kinglake Oval is a vital community asset that plays an important role in bringing people together through sport and community connection,” Cr Hildebrand said.
“The upgrade reflects Council’s ongoing work with community and government partners to invest in facilities that support participation and wellbeing.”
Construction is expected to be completed in September, with the playing surface ready for use from late March 2027, subject to the full establishment of the new turf.
