NILLUMBIK SHIRE, VIC. — Nillumbik Shire invites artists, musicians, makers and creative practitioners to apply for two unique and exciting opportunities that celebrate creativity and strengthen our arts and culture community.
Applications are now open for both the 2027 Nillumbik Summer Sounds season and the 2026-27 Nillumbik Artist in Residence Program.
Nillumbik Summer Sounds is a popular series of live music events held across three Friday evenings in February at Edendale Community Environment Farm.
Council is seeking musicians, bands and entertainers who live, work, study or play in Nillumbik to perform at the family-friendly outdoor events to be held in February 2027.
All music genres are welcome, and applications are free.
The Nillumbik Artist in Residence Program offers dedicated time, space and support for artists to develop Nillumbik-inspired work while engaging with the local community.
Three artist residencies are currently available:
- Edendale Community Environment Farm (November 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027), open to individual artists and small artist groups exploring themes such as environment, sustainability, biodiversity, climate or the history of Edendale.
- Yarra Plenty Regional Library – Eltham Library (November 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027), open to literary artists working across all genres and formats.
- Baldessin Studio (24 access days between September 22, 2026 and June 30, 2027), open to printmakers and visual artists incorporating printmaking into their practice.
Successful artists will receive a stipend, access to a dedicated workspace, orientation and induction, creative support, promotion, and payment for public arts-based sessions where applicable.
Mayor Cr Naomi Joiner said the opportunities reflected Council’s commitment to supporting local creatives at all stages of their careers.
“Nillumbik is home to an incredibly talented and diverse creative community, and these programs provide valuable opportunities for artists to share their work, develop their practice and connect with new audiences,” Cr Joiner said.
“Whether you’re an emerging musician looking for a stage, a writer seeking time and space to create, or an artist wanting to explore new ideas, we encourage you to apply.”
Applications for both programs open on Saturday, August 1, 2026 and close on Monday, August 31, 2026.
