One only has to consider the weekend marches demanding action on domestic violence, rape and violence against women across Australia to wonder why today KIIS FM in Melbourne’s broadcast transmitter licence (official callsign 3TT) after Kyle and Jackie O – launched their new Melbourne morning show – has not been suspended after putting these statements to air.
These statements were broadcast yesterday morning by Kyle & Jackie O on their ‘new’ (transplanted from Sydney) KIIS FM syndicated breakfast show. This went to air as parents drove to work, often with primary-school-aged children in the car.

Unlike social media, the Commonwealth of Australia licenses TV and radio stations and they, via the regulator – the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) – have the authority to:
- Suspend the broadcasting license of KISS FM (or any TV/radio station);
- Cancel the broadcasting license of KISS FM (or any TV/radio station);
- Attach conditions that must be adhered to remain on air and keep their licence (or any TV/radio station);
- Increase the annual licence fees by thousands, if not millions of dollars, making the station unviable and costing shareholders/owners money.
Kyle and Jackie O signed a 10-year, $200m contract with ARN.
