Almost 150 residents of Murrindindi Shire have registered for an obligation-free solar quote through Murrindindi Shire Council’s Dindi Bulk Buy Program.
Natural Environment and Climate Change Portfolio Councillor for Murrindindi Shire Council Rebecca Bowles said the level of community interest in the Program demonstrates just how serious we are as a community about managing our environmental footprint.
“So far, we have run two information sessions with Program partners Yarra Energy Foundation (YEF), one in Alexandra and one in Kinglake. We also ran a great launch event in Yea. We are really pleased to share that already, 30kWs of solar power capacity has been ordered through the Dindi Bulk Buy Program,” Cr Bowles said.
“What’s exciting about this, is how close to our target of 50kWs we already are. Once we reach 50kWs, Jim’s Energy, the Dindi Bulk Buy solar installers, will donate a solar system to a community-owned building in the Shire.
“Don’t worry if you have missed the two Dindi Bulk Buy information sessions so far, there are another two lined up. On Saturday 4 August at 10am, there will be an information session at the Marysville Community Centre. On Wednesday 15 August at 7pm the final information session will be held at the Yea Shire Hall. I really encourage you to pop along to these sessions, even if you’re not ready to install solar power yet and just want to improve your ‘solar literacy’.
“The information sessions provide an informal setting for people to ask questions and clear up any confusion about transitioning to solar or going off-grid entirely. It’s also an opportunity for people to get to know the Program partners and discuss any concerns they have about other suppliers or installers who might have approached them.
“What we have seen at the information sessions so far is that Murrindindi Shire residents are keen to control of their own energy security and environmental impact.
“Council is really proud to be helping people access quality information and dependable solar outcomes through the Dindi Bulk Buy Program. I’d encourage you to pop along to the sessions if you haven’t been already and get involved,” Cr Bowles added.
